Excavators and attachments star at Machineserve open day

Machineserve are the local dealer for the Japanese Hanix range of mini excavators and had a wide variety of models on display in the dig zone, where visitors were encouraged to get hands of with the machines. I think its fair to say that there has been very little change in the Hanix range for some considerable time now, but at long last I hear that the long awaited new 8 tonne machine has now arrived in the UK, but sadly it was not made available for the Machineserve event. I expect to be seeing it in the not too distant future so look out for my first drive article on it. At this event I spent some time in the H27DR a 2.7 tonne zero tailswing offering which I thought was a good little digger but could do with a bit more speed on the dipper arm function which did seem rather slow. dsc_3604 But as previously mentioned it was the attachments that were the main focus of attention at this event. Flail mowers are becoming increasingly popular as an attachment on excavators and the Italian Ghedini range feature in Machineserve’s portfolio of products. There were two examples being demonstrated on the day, a DA52 model which was mounted on a 1.7 tonne H17D mini excavator. dsc_3597 With the larger DA74 unit being demonstrated on the 5.5 tonne class H55DR zero tailswing midi excavator. dsc_3602 Also from the vast Ghedini range of attachments was this excavator mounted cone style log splitter which was also demonstrated to visitor by Phil Davey himself. dsc_3591 Machineserve are also dealers for the British made Arrowhead breakers and had a number of units on display including this R40 model which is the smallest in the range and is suitable for excavators ranging from 0.7 – 1.5 tonnes. Demonstrated mounted on a Hanix H09D mini excavator the R40 requires an oil flow of 14 – 30 litres per minute. dsc_3595 For those who are still not convinced or prepared to stretch to the cost of a tiltrotator, the tilt bucket is becoming more popular. Machineserve are now selling these Scandinavian shaped hydraulic tilting buckets which have been supplied by Bucket Warehouse. dsc_3593 It wasn’t all diggers though and being located in a very rural area there were a whole host of other bits of kit from tractors to telehandlers and yard sweepers to firewood log saws like this example from German company Lumag. The Lumag WS700Z PTO driven firewood log saw is a safe and effective tool for cutting up lengths of timber from a comfortable stand up position. The saw which is fitted with a 700mm blade, is powered by any tractor with a minimum HP requirement of 20HP and can handle logs with a maximum size of 240mm, just the job with the long winters nights looming! dsc_3621 Much of the attention on the day though was on the Hanix excavators, it’s always good to see kit in action at these events and there was no shortage of visitors looking around the machines on the day of our visit. Hanix have been around a long time and have built a reputation for making a good no frills digger, which uses quality Japanese components throughout and won’t break the bank to purchase. dsc_3616 Add into the equation that the company are now offering their 4 Care Warranty which cover 4 years or 4,000 hours whichever comes first you can buy with peace of mind that you will get the support if and when its needed. dsc_3617 Check out this video footage from the guys at Machineserve featuring Ghedini flail mowers in action at a previous open day event.
It was another great local event and the hospitality was very good with burgers and cups of hot coffee keeping everyone warm on a chilly November morning. I for one look forward to the next invite.
