Executive Hire Show 2014 kicks off at the Ricoh

The 8th Executive Hire Show opens its doors at the Ricoh arena, former home of Coventry City football club tomorrow from 9am, in this post we will take a look at some of the digger related kit you will be able to see amongst a host of other small tool and equipment items on display over the next two days. As reported in the latest edition of Earthmovers Magazine in shops this Friday, Japanese mini-excavator specialist, Hanix are back and at the Executive Hire Show, will be displaying two models from its new generation ‘D-series’. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the H09D micro and the H17D mini, both of which are versatile and productive diggers for use on space-restricted urban sites, and have been designed around the specific demands of the rental market. Body panels are all steel construction to withstand everyday site knocks, and the boom cylinder is located above the boom to protect it against accidental damage when digging. Both models are compact, durable machines which are easily transported, simple to operate, and boast impressive digging depth. The combination of efficient, yet powerful and proven Kubota engines with variable output piston pumps, provide smooth, responsive power to match the workload, whilst optimising fuel consumption and minimising exhaust emissions. Hydraulically expanding tracks provide stability for digging operations, as well as improving balance when traversing, and easy ‘pin-on’ dozer blade extensions match the increased track width. Both models utilise pilot controlled hydraulics and are equipped with hydraulic lines as standard. Along with easy operator access for all routine daily checks, Hanix machines also have the sensible inclusion of a console mounted fuel gauge. Another show regular in Coventry is Ammann who will be displaying the new Yanmar 2.6 ton crawler mini-excavator SV26 mini-excavator which was originally launched at Bauma earlier last year. The latest arrival in the ultra-short radius SV series is aimed at a wide range of applications such as urban renewal, agriculture and landscaping.  Its transport weight of 2,590 kg (with rubber tracks and cab) allows it to be transported on a small trailer or on a light vehicle. Its operating weight of 2,665 kg, associated with the optimization of the masses and volumes distribution, contributes to the SV26's high lifting capacity. The SV26 mini excavator is powered by a 3 cylinder Yanmar diesel engine with direct injection and a cylinder capacity of 1,330 cm3 which reduces fuel consumption and emissions while maintaining high power (17.4 kW at 2,400 rpm). It meets the highest standards in terms of exhaust gas emissions.  Fuel consumption, which is already very low (less than 4 litres/hour), can be further reduced by installing an optional system that automatically reduces engine speed to idle when the machine has not been used for more than 4 seconds, and then accelerates again when necessary. Takeuchi is back after a year out and will be showing its most recent arrival the new TB216 Cab, the replacement for the popular 1.5 tonne TB016 – and you can all get a first look at the EHS. The new TB216 remains a highly anticipated machine for tool hire and utilities. Takeuchi’s 1.6 models both cab and canopy have proved very popular in this busy weight class, the TB016 is Takeuchi’s best-selling machine in the UK. The new model remains a machine designed and built for hire, Takeuchi tell us not to worry - expect more of the best features including expanding tracks, added dig depth, familiar smooth controls plus a new VDU control panel. Alongside is the more compact TB215R with a reduced tail swing, which we saw in the photo above at last year’s Royal Cornwall Show, which is once again a utilities model built for the lighter end of excavating. The new JCB 8014 CTS mini excavator will make its Executive Hire Show debut alongside JCB’s range of purpose built compact equipment for the rental sector. Building on the success of the 8018 CTS which made its Executive Hire Show debut last year, the new 8014 CTS is a conventional tailswing model which has been added to JCB’s compact line-up - along with the 8016 and 8020 models - to complete the JCB offering in the 1.5 tonne sector. Each features more than 30 improvements providing reduced cost of ownership and greater productivity, safety and comfort. These include a 52% increase in load holding capacity and an 11% increase in dig depth. Kubota, is exhibiting at the EHS for the very first time, and will be displaying what I suspect to be the largest machine in the arena in the form of its latest 8 ton Dash-4 Rebecca Bryson of Kubota, commented: “The EHS is a great platform for us to showcase our machines.  A key focus for us will be the KX080-4 - one of the most innovative, powerful and efficient excavators on the market.  The Stage IIIB compliant KX080-4 has raised the bar in what is a highly competitive compact plant market, with sales going from strength to strength since it was launched in early 2013. Kubota was confident the machine would prove popular but are obviously delighted with how well it has been received and we now look forward to showing it to visitors on our stand at the show.” Offering an operating weight of up to 8.7 tonnes, Kubota’s KX080-4 meets and exceeds legislative requirements and reduces its impact on the environment.  The machine provides superior digging force so operators can dig faster and more efficiently in even the toughest of conditions.  A 4-cylinder Kubota manufactured engine utilises Direct Injection (DI), further helping to maximise digging strength whilst also minimising noise, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. Kubota’s KX080-4 includes a host of features, including a Common Rail System (CRS) and a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) muffler.  The CRS electronically controls the fuel injection timing and amount in stages to deliver optimum combustion.  Other key low carbon benefits of the machine include Kubota’s Eco Plus feature, which results in an 18% saving on fuel usage when compared to the previous KX080-3 model without compromising on performance. Last but not least in this brief round-up, Volvo Construction Equipment will be exhibiting their ever popular EC15C and EC18C compact excavators along with the DD25 tandem roller. Also the 2.5 ton new ECR25D compact radius mini excavator, which was launched at Bauma. The ECR25D, short swing radius compact machine is ideal when working in tight and congested jobsites. Once again the ECR25D has the added feature of high mobility, which will be of particular interest to UK end users. The machine can be transported with up to three buckets and a hydraulic breaker on a small trailer and still weigh less than 3.5 tonnes, including the trailer. So it’s a case of digger are us at the EHS tomorrow, and the Digger Man Blog will be there to capture a taste of the action, providing we don’t get washed away on route!
