Finning delivers enhanced productivity for Sorensen Civil Engineering

Sorensen has invested in two Cat 340 excavators and one Cat 352 next generation excavator to meet demand on the Adare Bypass project. The machines were supplied by Finning UK & Ireland and will be used to deliver a vital piece of infrastructure delivered between Croagh and Adare, Ireland.

The project sees Sorensen partner with leading builder and contractor Sisk, to deliver a 7-kilometre stretch of new motorway as part of the larger Foynes to Limerick Road project. Significantly, the project is set for completion by June 2027 to ensure suitable infrastructure is in place for September's Ryder Cup Golf tournament, which will be hosted nearby at Adare Manor.

David Egan, Regional Sales Representative at Finning UK & Ireland said: “We have worked with Sorensen for many years and are proud to provide them with their latest Cat machines to meet the demand of this significant project.

“The Adare Bypass is a time-sensitive project that has gotten off to a great start, and the Cat 340 and Cat 352 excavators are engineered to deliver high productivity in heavy applications such as this. The 340 stands out in its class, with the ability to deliver up to 10% more productivity than the previous model and three engine modes to help deliver maximum output.

“Cat Next Generation machines come with Cat Grade 2D as standard, an integrated guidance system that helps operators work more efficiently thanks to greater accuracy. On large-scale, time sensitive projects like the Adare bypass, it is an asset to have this technology onboard to help operators boost productivity and lessen costly downtime. Included in the purchase were the added benefits of regular oil sampling, service agreements and extended warranty to ensure maximum uptime on this vital project.”

The Adare Bypass project is taking place in partnership with Limerick City and County Council, Sorensen and Sisk, and has received investment of approximately €150 million from the Irish Government.

James O Hanlon, Plant Manager at Sorensen Civil Engineering Ltd said: “We are used to working on large-scale infrastructure projects and are always looking for ways to increase productivity, efficiency and sustainability to ensure we are exceeding our customers’ expectations and needs.

“Our latest investment from Finning fully supports the demands of the large-scale and time-sensitive nature of the Adare Bypass project. To ensure we get the most out of these machines the integrated VisionLink® technology allows us to monitor them remotely, providing actionable insights as well as maintenance alerts and reporting.

“Once again, we are pleased to be able to work with Finning and witness the productivity benefits of the next generation Cat machines. The positive impact of these machines is already apparent on this vital stretch of motorway, which will deliver much needed infrastructure ahead of large events such as the Ryder Cup.”
