Finning kicks off search for best UK & Ireland operators

Finning, exclusive dealer of Cat machines and equipment, is calling for the best operators in the UK and Ireland to step forward to compete in the Caterpillar Global Operator Challenge 2022/23 and be in with a chance of a trip to Las Vegas. Operators will need to demonstrate agility, speed, and precision to be in with the chance to take the UK and Ireland titles. In March 2020, Finning customer Tommy Murphy narrowly missed out on becoming world champion after finishing a close second in a nail-biting finale in Las Vegas.

Contenders must first compete in the UK and Ireland part of the competition, with events running on July 27th and 28th at Caterpillar’s visitor centre in Desford, Leicester. Operators will compete in three challenges using different machines and illustrating different skills and capabilities. The top operators from the UK and Ireland will go through to the European championships which are being held in Malaga in October where they will vie for a coveted place at the prestigious final, where they’ll need nerves of steel to battle it out in a series of tough challenges against the best machine operators in the world.

Tracey Earp, Marketing Manager at Finning said, “After Tommy’s amazing success in 2020 we’re excited to see who will step forward this year to represent the UK & Ireland and earn their place on the podium. For those ready to step up don’t expect a comfortable ride, as this event really does attract the absolute best of the best and you will have to put your heart and soul into every challenge. It’s a fantastic way to demonstrate the skill and precision work operators bring to their job every day, and the Cat Global Operator finals always make me immensely proud of the people we have in our industry,” Tracey added.

In 2020, more than 10,000 machine operators from across thirty countries took part in this epic event which forms part of CONEXPO-CON/AGG, North America’s largest construction trade show.
