Finning presents Flannery with custom Cat machines as part of multi-million-pound investment

Finning recently presented Flannery Plant Hire with two rare Centennial Grey machines - a Cat® 305 excavator and latest Cat D6 XE - as part of a deal to supply £70,000,000 worth of Cat machinery throughout 2025.

Over the past five years Finning UK & Ireland, the world’s largest dealer of Cat machines, parts and aftermarket services, has supplied long-standing customer Flannery with over £350,000,000 worth of Cat machinery to support the industry demand for plant hire.

Finning recently hosted the Flannery team at the Caterpillar Visitors Centre in Desford to present them with the new machines - including a rare centennial grey Cat 305 excavator, designed to mark Caterpillar’s centennial year. In attendance were company owners Mary and Paddy Flannery, their son and Managing Director Martin Flannery, alongside Julie, Paul and Flannery.

Lee Andrews, General Manager – Sales at Finning UK & Ireland said: “Our partnership with Flannery goes back to 2010, when they invested in 10 Cat 320 hydraulic excavators. Now, fifteen years on nearly 70% of their fleet is made up of Cat machines.

“The team at Flannery have always been early adopters of new technology and were amongst the first to utilise integrated 2D and 3D technology through Cat Grade technology to improve efficiency and accuracy, whilst reducing rework and material waste. Flannery shares our vision for innovation and a sustainable future, and we are thrilled to present them with their new machines at the home of Caterpillar in the UK during this centennial year.”

Flannery’s partnership with Finning has seen the company make significant investments in Cat machinery, technology and support services, to ensure quality, efficiency and sustainability in their fleet. The Cat D6 XE is a hybrid electric dozer, and is highly efficient thanks to its electric drive system, meaning it can achieve up to a 30% increase in fuel efficiency compared to a traditional dozer, which supports Flannery’s drive towards a more sustainable future.

Martin Flannery, Managing Director at Flannery Plant Hire said: “We have a great working relationship with the team at Finning. Over the years we have worked alongside them to ensure our fleet not only keeps up to latest industry innovations, but that it serves our mission of reducing the environmental impact of our everyday operations. These latest additions will certainly support this, and I am keen to get them working on-site as part of our high-performance fleet.”

To celebrate the longstanding relationship between the companies, Flannery’s team were also given a tour of the Caterpillar facilities at Desford and got the chance to meet with members of the Finning team that they have worked with over the years.

Martin said “At Flannery we continue to invest in our fleet and raise the bar when it comes to delivering efficiencies and performance to ensure exceptional service for all of our customers. We enjoyed the opportunity to go along to the Caterpillar Visitors Centre in Leicester to receive our new machines and reunite with some of the team from Finning who have supported Flannery in proactively seeking the best solutions for our customers.”
