GGH Hire strikes major Kubota deal

Kubota (UK) is celebrating one of the largest single equipment deals in its history. GGH Hire has taken delivery of the first of 150 compact excavators as part of a multi-million pound investment, following its recent acquisition by St Albans-based Herts Tool Company. The purchase, concluded with local dealer Boss Plant Sales, includes a range of mini and midi excavator models, from the sub-1-tonne KX008-5, through to the largest 8.5-tonne KX085-5.

While up to 100 of the machines are for a complete fleet replacement within the company’s extensive offering, the remaining 50 excavators represent a major investment in growth, to meet rising customer demand.

Gerry Gardiner and David Shallow of GGH Hire are excited to supply their customers with the new excavators, leading a fully refreshed approach to fleet quality and reliability.

GGH Hire was acquired by Herts Tool Company in December 2025. Both businesses will continue to operate separately, with Mr Shallow assuming full responsibility for the Enfield operation, while Mr Gardiner remains closely involved. Since the acquisition the business has already benefited from significant capital investment into the hire fleet, underling the new ownership’s commitment to growth and modernisation.

GGH Hire has a broad spread of customers and remains particularly strong with utility contractors and reinforced concrete structure specialists throughout London and the Home Counties. The business works right across the South-East, with many of its machines supplied on a long-term rental basis.

Boss Plant Sales’ Key Account Manager Nick Anwyl commented: “It has been a privilege to support GGH Hire over the years and to manage their investment into quality Kubota machinery. It’s fantastic to see their fleet strengthened with this new equipment, that delivers the performance and reliability that their customers expect.”

The deal sealed a strong year for Kubota in the UK, as the company continues to build its construction machinery offer. Heading into 2026, Kubota will add a larger crawler excavator, new wheeled machines and a compact tracked loader to its equipment line-up. The manufacturer works closely with its dealer to support business like GGH Hire as they expand to meet the changing demands of the construction business.

“We are extremely proud of the relationship that we have enjoyed with both HTC Group and GGH Hire,” added Martin Norry, Construction Sales Manager at Kubota. “We have worked with both companies for many years and we look forward to supporting their further growth, as they continue to deliver the very latest equipment to their customers across London and the Home Counties.”
