Harringtons leads the charge with their first electric dumper from Thwaites
Harringtons Builders PLC, the Wembley based contractor who is celebrating 60 years of innovation next year, today announced the fleet integration of its first fully electric dumper.
The 3-ton Electric Power Swivel machine, supplied by Thwaites, marks a significant milestone in the company's sustainability journey, whilst delivering on its commitment to electric plant technology.
"For us, this isn't just about compliance—it's about leading the industry and building on our reputation," said Tony Harrington COO at Harringtons. "We've been exploring electric machines for a number of years, starting with discussions via our Thwaites distributor Shellplant Sales.”
As Harringtons approach their 60th anniversary, the clear message is that they are embracing a cultural shift toward sustainability. After trialling hybrids with mixed results, the business is now committed to electric machine adoption.
Driven by environmental goals and client charter, Harringtons aims to be ahead of the curve, as they deliver a Thwaites electric dumper that offers key benefits such as, zero emissions in confined spaces, quieter operation, and exemption from NRMM under ULEZ schemes.
Tony was keen to point out that this investment in a premium, alternative powered product, demonstrated a prioritisation of the firm’s long-term business value over immediate financial recovery.
Commenting further Tony said “We plan to showcase the ‘all new, all blue’ branded dumper, which we commissioned exclusively for this deal, across all our sites. A ‘trailer tour’ if you will, inviting clients, sustainability managers, and developers to see first-hand the benefits the Thwaites 3-tonne Electric, Power Swivel Dumper offers”.
Thwaites Distributor Manager Paul Rodwell said “This deal marks one of the first UK sales from our next generation electric range.
