H.E.Services supports major M27 improvements
H.E.Services (Plant Hire) Ltd has supported one of the South Coast’s most significant infrastructure projects by supplying a Komatsu PC360 LC-11 SR22 Long Reach excavator to the ongoing M27 Junction 10 improvement scheme. Delivered by the company’s Strood depot, the brand new machine has played a key role in essential works carried out over the Christmas period, helping to keep this project moving forward during a critical construction phase.
The M27 Junction 10 improvement scheme is being led by Hampshire County Council and represents a major investment in the region’s transport infrastructure. Although the M27 is a National Highways road, the upgrade is being overseen by the county council to support the development of the Welborne Garden Village, a major new housing project located just north of Fareham. The scheme is expected to cost in excess of £100 million and is currently scheduled for completion by Winter 2026.
As part of the works, the M27 between Junctions 9 (Whiteley) and 11 (Fareham) was fully closed over the Christmas period to allow essential construction work to be carried out safely and efficiently. During this time, the Komatsu PC360 Long Reach excavator supplied by H. E. Services was utilised to support critical elements of the project.
The Junction 10 improvements include the construction of a new underpass beneath the M27 to the west of the existing junction, the addition of two new slip roads, and the replacement of the current west-bound exit slip road. Together, these upgrades will create a junction that operates more effectively, improving traffic flow and safety for all road users while accommodating future growth in the area.

The Komatsu PC360 LC-11 SR22 Long Reach excavator was selected for its reach, power and reliability, making it well suited to the demands of large-scale civil engineering and highway works. H. E. Services’ ability to provide modern, well maintained equipment ensured the project team had the right machinery available during a critical window of construction.
