Hillhead Celebrates the Big 40
The show takes place once again in its famous spiritual home of the Hillhead limestone quarry in, Buxton, Derbyshire 21-23rd June and with over 600 exhibitors already signed up to attend, it promises to be a great show. Some of the biggest names in the industry are set to attend including, Ammann; ATG; Bell Equipment; Bobcat; Bomag; Case Construction; CDE; Doosan; Duo; Epiroc; Finning; Hidromek; Hitachi; Hyundai; Isuzu; Leica; Liebherr; Liugong; Magotteaux; Marubeni-Komatsu; McLanahan; McCloskey International; Metso Outotec; Michelin; Powerscreen; Pronar; Renault Trucks; Rubblemaster; Sandvik Mining & Construction; Sany; Scania; Shell International; SMT GB (Volvo); Sunward Europe; Terex Finlay; TotalEnergies; Volvo Trucks; Wacker Neuson; Weir Minerals; Wirtgen; Yanmar; and many others.
Everyone who attends Hillhead cannot fail to be impressed at the spectacle of the scene from the viewing platform up at the top of the ramp above the showground.
As part of the Hillhead 40-year celebrations, the organisers are inviting attendees to post photos of previous visits onto social media using the hashtag #40yearsofHillhead to bring back memories of the show that first took place back in 1982. The best photos will be selected to appear on the Hillhead online gallery which will go live on the Hillhead.com website from the start of May.
Photos included in this post feature some of my favourites from previous visits I have made to the event.
In the wider scheme of things, I have only attended Hillhead around 5 times personally, as in the earlier days I was always too busy operating, and it was a fair old trek up from my then home in Southampton. My first visit however, was in 2005, with my last being in 2018. But these days it’s a permanent fixture on my list of events and a show I enjoy very much, except for the tiring walk up that ramp at the end of each day!
