Hyundai HX85A from an American Operator’s Perspective

Back in the July edition of Earthmovers Magazine, I reported on the very first model to arrive in the UK, purchased by long term Hyundai customer, North Yorkshire based N. G. Plant Hire Ltd. Owner Nigel Gill had specified his machine to be custom painted from the factory in a stunning British racing green livery with a splash of red, to signify his passion for all things motor bike racing. This machine was supplied by Cumbria based dealer Taylor & Braithwaite.

Talking about the new model Nigel said, “This new machine is 100% better than the old R 80CR and a massive improvement in terms of cab comfort.

Nigel continued, “This example also features the long dipper arm option too and also has the extra counterweight which makes her a well-balanced piece of kit. It really is a cracking little machine!

I was interested to see how the HX85A was being received in other parts of the world and over the weekend I came across this video from American contractor Michael Simon, who is based in Southern Indiana.

Michael runs an excellent You Tube channel entitled “Dirt Perfect” and in this video walkaround he shares his thoughts and honest opinions on the 8.5-tonne machine from an American contractor’s viewpoint.
