JCB set to get the X Factor

An Illustrious gathering of International press and an ever-increasing number of social media influencers will be attending this latest product launch over the coming days, which industry insiders tell us, is expected to include the reveal of the first of a new range of hydraulic excavators dubbed the X Series, which has been hyped up over recent weeks by the manufacturers clever use of teaser videos, showing glimpses of the new machine. Many may not realise that JCB have been building hydraulic excavators for well over 50 years, the first model being the JCB 7, pictured below in this iconic image, which was developed in 1964 and was based on the American Warner and Swasey Hopto design. The machine was officially launched in 1965. The JCB 7 was joined by the JCB 6 a year later and subsequent upgraded models followed with the 6C and 6D with increased horsepower. These were later joined by 5C and 7C models and the rare 8D. 1973 saw the launch of the 800 series initially starting out with the 806 and 807 models. The big 808 joined the line-up in and the range was completed in 1977 with the introduction of the JCB 805. The 805B was unveiled in 1978 and featured a dynamic new style. The 800 series ran in various guises until 1992 when JCB started producing the JS range as a result of a joint venture between the British manufacturer and Sumitomo of Japan, that venture came to an end in 1998 and the JS range has continued with numerous upgrades to this day. But now it’s time for a change and over the next couple of days we expect to witness the first of an exciting new range of machines which I have been told will be game changers, I like most know very little else about this new product which has been in development for some considerable time, but I’m excited to see it and will be sharing the first glimpses of it on our various social media platforms, signal permitting, in the meantime check out the latest teaser video from JCB.
