Kelson Sparkes awarded RoSPA Gold Award

The whole team at Kelston Sparkes is celebrating after learning the company won a prestigious gold award for its health and safety performance in 2024.

The success follows the first ever award submission made by the company to the renowned RoSPA scheme, despite its many years of commitment to health & safety. Written and submitted by Head of SHEQ, David Barber, who joined Kelston Sparkes in 2023, the award recognises the approach of the whole business;

“Health & Safety is ingrained into the company culture and has been since the company was formed. We have introduced further great initiatives over the last couple of years, such as the’ Make Time for Safety’ initiative, safety observation process, in-house D&A testing, minimum standard for H&S and safety critical health surveillance for all staff, but it is really validation for the company’s sustained approach to health & safety for employees, customers, suppliers, visitors and learners at the operator training centre.”

Now in its 69th year – and with almost 2000 entries annually from over 50 countries - the RoSPA awards are the world’s largest health and safety awards programme; recognising organisations and individuals who have set the highest standards in accident prevention.

Julie Small, RoSPA’s Growth Director, said; “Kelston Sparkes should be proud of the hard work and commitment to keeping people safe that has resulted in this gold award. It honours those organisations that have achieved the highest standards in health and safety in the workplace.”
