Komatsu PW168-11 and PW198-11 wheeled excavators
With the new PW168-11 and PW198-11 wheeled excavators, Komatsu is expanding its product range of short-tail models, rounding up the operating weights of these popular machines up to 20 tonnes.
These short-tail machines are equipped with 4-cylinder Komatsu diesel engines (110kW or 129kW) that meet EU Stage 5 emissions standards and are factory supplied with environmentally friendly HVO Diesel fuel as standard. With a low transportation height of just 3.1m, transport on standard low-bed trailers with a loading height of up to 4m is possible, says Komatsu. Rear overhangs measure 1.85m (PW168-11) and 1.9m (PW198-11).
In the cab there’s a new premium seat with multi-stage ventilation and heating. Functions can be operated via the joysticks, and all-round visibility is supported by four cameras with a bird's eye view as standard.
Versatile and flexible
Mobile excavators are increasingly being used with a tilt-rotator and 3D guidance system. The new Komatsu models are open to any kind of system and are prepared for use with a tilt-rotator as well as for 3D guidance systems. The PW168 and PW198 feature useful extras such as joystick steering, tool control management and trailer coupling.
The new Komatsu diesel particle filters have an 8,000-hour life, and exhaust gas treatment is carried out fully automatically without disrupting the workflow. All maintenance points on the Komatsu PW168 and PW198 are centralised and accessible from ground level behind steel flaps. All important functions are displayed as standard via the machine monitor and the Komtrax fleet management system.
Key stats for the 110kW Komatsu PW168-11 comprise a 15,775-18,115kg operating weight, a 1.13m3 maximum bucket capacity, a machine height of 3.1m and a tail swing radius of 1.85m. Key stats for the 129kW Komatsu PW198-11 include a 17,435-19,355kg operating weight, a 1.13m3 maximum bucket capacity, a 3.1m machine height and 1.9m tail swing radius.
