Kubota wheeled machines wins two Red Dot Awards
Kubota’s new KW095 and KW115 wheeled excavators have received two major design awards, winning an iF Design Award and the Red Dot: Best of the Best, the highest accolade in the Red Dot Design Awards.
The 9-tonne KW095 and 11-tonne KW115 are built in partnership with Liebherr at its production facility in Kirchdorf an der Iller, Germany. The site also produces Liebherr’s A909 Compact and 911 Compact wheeled excavators, making four models in total. The two Liebherr machines are the first from the manufacturer to use the latest Kubota diesel engines.
The awards recognised the series’ approach to combining powerful technology within a compact space, with the machines designed for a range of construction applications.
The partnership brings together Liebherr’s experience in wheeled excavator design and manufacture with Kubota’s engine technology. It also marks a first for both companies: Liebherr has entered the 9- and 11-tonne classes with the A909 Compact and 911 Compact, while the KW095 and KW115 represent Kubota’s first wheeled excavators.
Hironori Watanabe, Deputy General Manager of Kubota Corporation’s Construction Equipment Division, and Keigo Okamoto, President of Kubota Europe’s Construction Equipment Business Unit, recently visited the Kirchdorf facility to see the first Kubota machines in production. They were presented with a symbolic key and the two design certificates by Liebherr Managing Directors Rudolf Arnold, responsible for Sales and Service, and Matthias Zettler, responsible for Finance and Administration.
Kubota dealers in the UK have been receiving product training ahead of the first KW095 and KW115 customer deliveries, which are now beginning.
