LaFontaine Liebherr’s Impress

LaFontaine Liebherr’s Impress

With my interest raised, I decided to do a bit of investigation on the SL Excavations Inc business and its new machines.

It transpires that Steve has been a long-term adopter of tiltrotators, in this instance Rototilt R6 models, having previously ran one on his previous machine which was a John Deere 210G. He is also embracing modern excavation technology by installing Trimble Earthworks 3D systems.

Steve had previously ordered a new R 926 Compact hydraulic excavator, but being an SL Excavation machine, he wanted to put his own stamp of individuality on it, as such he specified a stunning black livery for the machine.

It was while he was waiting for the R 926 to arrive, that Liebherr Canada offered to loan him an R 924 Generation 8 model to use until his original order arrived. Steve accepted the offer and to cut a long story short, he was so impressed with the new Gen 8 model that he decided to purchase that one too!

That machine was still sporting the original Liebherr yellow, and so Steve being Steve, he decided to have that one resprayed, this time in the popular white livery that we are seeing some examples of in the UK recently.

The machine was shipped out to Cavanagh Construction’s body shop for the work to be done, before heading to the local Liebherr branch where it was also fitted with a Rototilt R6 and the Trimble 3D GPS system.

Both machines are now on job sites earning their keep, and in another nice touch, I really like the colour co-ordinated pick-up trucks which match the machines paintwork.

I’ve not been able to find any video footage of the new machines in action, but here is some earlier in cab footage of Steve at work with the John Deere 210G with Rototilt.
