Letís Recycle gets us back on the Show Circuit (Part One)

To be perfectly honest, this event wasn’t actually on my radar to attend, but as I had been spending time up north on another assignment a couple of days earlier, it all made perfect sense to drop in on my way back down, and I’m so glad I did, as it was a great chance to catch up with friends in the plant, machinery and attachment sectors, who were all keen to talk and showcase what they had on offer.

Our first stop was to see the Cheshire based Blue Machinery Group, who are dealers for the Fuchs range of material handlers and Doppstadt shredders, which are just part of a huge portfolio of products available from Blue Machinery.

On the demo area Blue Group was demonstrating the new Fuchs MHL331F material handler complete with an Ardenne selector grab. The MHL331F weighs in at between 22.8 to 25.5 tonnes depending on specification and is powered by a 4-cylinder Deutz diesel engine which offers a power output rating of 115kw @2000rpm, and has a work equipment reach of 12m. This machine is also available as an electric drive version.

The machine was in action loading the German built Doppstadt Inventhor Type 6 shredder, this beast of a machine is powered by the MTU 6R1000 engine which punches out 260kw (354hp @1800rpm.

Volvo Construction Equipment dealers SMT GB, were clearly delighted to be back on the show circuit and in celebration revealed the new EW200E MH (material handler) which was making its first public appearance in the UK.

The new German built model builds on the success of its larger brother the EW240E MH and is powered by a Stage V emissions compliant Volvo D6J engine which punches out 129kw (175hp) @1,800rpm. Specifically designed and engineered from the ground up, this machine tips the scales at around 22.1 to 26.5 tonnes depending on spec.

SMT GB also showcased the new Volvo L25 Electric compact wheeled loader which is a great choice for indoor applications or when working in noise sensitive environments.

Find out more in this video from our friends at Content with Media below which sees Peter Haddock talking to SMT GB's Dominie Clarke.

One thing you notice with a lot of this recycling kit, is that the sector is dominated by German manufacturers, and of course when one thinks about German machines and quality engineering, we instantly think of Liebherr.

Liebherr GB brought along some models from there range which are specifically tailored to the recycling industry, in particular the very well received and respected LH24 material handler. In a similar weight class to the other material handlers on display the LH24 weighs in at 22,700 to 24,500kgs and is powered by a Stage V emission compliant Liebherr engine offering up 110kw (150hp). Reach once again on this machine is the industry standard 12m.

Liebherr GB also brought along an example from its extensive wheeled loader range the L550 and a T55-7 S telescopic handler.

Checkout our video of part of the demonstration by Liebherr.

Our friends over at LiuGong UK shared some space on the ECY Haulmark stand to display their increasingly popular 9018F mini excavator offering. This 1.8 tonne machine was once again penned by the British based design team and features a host of quality Japanese components under the skin. Area Sales Manager for the North West Steven Wilson was on hand to answer any customer queries on this and other machines in the LiuGong range.

Lookout for more highlights from the show in part two of this blog post later this week.
