Lister Wilder opens impressive Salisbury depot
Kubota dealer Lister Wilder is developing its depot network, with the opening of a new site in Lopcombe, Salisbury. The company, which has six branches across the South of England, four of which are dedicated to construction machinery, moved into the new location at the end of March. Located close to the previous branch, the new site offers increased sales and service capabilities, further improving the customer experience.
The Salisbury branch boasts new offices, with showroom space and additional work areas for regional sales staff. The extensive parts storage facilities are four times larger than at the previous location and the service workshop boasts four full length bays, double the number at the former depot. All of the bays are capable of housing Kubota’s new 14-tonne U145 excavator. With three full time technicians on site, the company is actively recruiting for additional service staff to boost customer response within the area.
The new location is well placed to cover a region from Lyme Regis to Bognor Regis along the south coast and as far north as Marlborough and Newbury. All of the technicians provide mobile field service, ensuring that customer equipment can be maintained, whatever the location.
“The opening of our new Salisbury depot marks a significant milestone for Lister Wilder,” said Managing Director Charlie King.
“Since taking on the area in 2023, we’ve invested over £1m to ensure we can fully support construction customers across Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire. With 60 mobile service engineers, £3m of parts stock, inter-depot deliveries and factory-trained, knowledgeable staff, we’re ideally positioned to support our growing customer base.
“We’re also excited to unveil Kubota’s new 14-tonne excavators and compact tracked loaders. With machines sold in our very first week at the new site, it’s clear that these products are opening up exciting new markets for us.”
The business was established in 1947 as Tractors & Farm Aids, with an agricultural equipment outlet in Reading. The company had become Lister Farm Sales by the 1980s, expanding into groundcare in 1995, when it became a Kubota dealer. The third-generation family-owned company adopted the Lister Wilder name in 2000, bringing together the successful Lister name in the West, with the Wilder brand in the East.
With more than 150 staff, across sales, service, parts, admin, IT and transport, the company is now well-known across the South of England in the construction, agricultural, groundcare and arboricultural sectors, for its high levels of service and customer care. From 2022 the business has focussed on its Kubota customers, with a number of complementary franchises.
“We’ve grown and established our infrastructure over the last four years,” said Mr King. “The focus now is on doing an excellent job to support all of our customers.”
