MACA adds first Liebherr dozers to mining fleet

MACA, a Thiess company, has expanded its mining fleet with the delivery of its first Liebherr dozers, taking delivery of three new PR 776 G8 machines at the Duketon Gold Project in Western Australia, operated by Regis Resources.

The commissioning marks a milestone in the long-standing relationship between Liebherr-Australia and one of Australia's leading mining, infrastructure and construction contractors. It also strengthens Liebherr's footprint in the Australian mining dozer market, the PR 776 G8 is of the manufacturer's latest generation of large mining dozers.

Introduced at MINExpo 2024, the PR 776 G8 replaces the previous G6 model as Liebherr's flagship dozer. The machine remains the world's largest hydrostatic dozer and is engineered to move more material while consuming less fuel than comparable machines in its class. Updated electronic architecture also improves compatibility with Liebherr's growing range of machine technology solutions, while providing a platform for future automation and digital developments.

MACA General Manager, Luke Birkett said: "The arrival of the three PR 776 dozers strengthens the partnership between Thiess, MACA and Liebherr. A significant amount of work has gone into planning and delivering a smooth transition to site, and I’d like to acknowledge the efforts of everyone involved. Our long-standing partnership with Liebherr has supported projects in Australia and internationally, and we look forward to continuing that relationship into the future."

The relationship between the two companies is set to deepen further, with Liebherr scheduled to deliver two R 9300 excavators to MACA during the second half of 2026. The 250-tonne class excavators will be deployed on mining operations in Western Australia's Mid West.

Liebherr-Australia Executive General Manager of Sales, Marketing, Training and Solutions Brian Boitano said both the PR 776 G8 and R 9300 had already demonstrated strong productivity and efficiency for mining customers worldwide, and he expected the new machines to deliver similar benefits for MACA's operations.
