MIDA civils acquire 15 new Kubota Excavators

Bedfordshire-based MIDA Civils has strengthened its growing plant fleet with the addition of 15 Kubota compact excavators, as the contractor continues to expand across the residential, commercial and industrial sectors in the East of England.

Established in 2020, the company now operates a fleet of more than 100 excavators, including over 25 Kubota models ranging from one to 8.5 tonnes. The latest investment comprises 10 U50-5 compact excavators and five KX085-5 midi excavators, with the new machines supporting continued business growth and an ongoing four-year fleet replacement programme.

The machines have been supplied by Shellplant, which continues to provide warranty and parts support as MIDA develops its own in-house plant division.

“Shellplant have always been a great support. We are bringing more and more of the work in-house, and they are supporting us in that process,” said Vicky Carr, Head of Plant and Procurement at MIDA.

The contractor delivers projects ranging from earthmoving and enabling works to groundworks and landscaping across a region stretching from Peterborough to North London and Oxford. According to Finance Director Daniel Clorley, machine reliability remains the key purchasing factor.

“Reliability is key, first and foremost. Driver familiarity, strong performance and residual values are also important factors in our machine choice.”

Shellplant Sales Manager Tom Hayward added: “I have enjoyed watching the growth of Mida Civils since the business started, with their ever-growing fleet of Kubota excavators and look forward to securing and supporting increasing Kubota business with them over the coming years.”
