More German Construction Classics #FlashbackFriday
Dirk says that these photos were taken in Düsseldorf in the early 1980’s where the machines were working on a road construction project which as is common in Central Europe, also featured tram rail installation.
The O&K MH 6 and Liebherr A 921 C series wheeled excavator, which in this instance is sporting the company’s corporate blue livery, were a very common sight in those days in Germany.
The legendary Caterpillar 955L which is hiched to a towed vibratory roller, is also sporting a cab which was produced by the German Caterpillar dealer Zeppelin. These cabs were nearly always retro- fitted by dealers back in those days, classic plant fans in the UK will be familiar with cabs produced by H. Leverton the much loved and missed UK Caterpillar dealers.
This Clark Michigan 75B wheeled loader was quite a rare find in Germany in those days, and Dirk reports that there were two examples working on this jobsite.
