More Potter Plant in photos

There were plenty of rubber ducks to be seen on the job with the vast majority of them coming from the Hitachi stable. This Zaxis 140W was caught in action “haymaking” some material about. As mentioned in the article which is appearing in the current issue of Earthmovers Magazine, GPS systems feature heavily on the Potter Plant Hire fleet and this Cat D6R XW has been fitted with a Trimble set up. Another GPS equipped piece of kit was this 13 tonne class Caterpillar 312E which was also fitted with rubber street pads on its tracks, a very useful addition for when required to work on paved areas, which makes the machine more adaptable over the duration of a job. Another rubber duck worthy of a mention is the Hitachi Zaxis 170W that has been painted up in zebra style markings. This was inspired by Giles Potter seeing some Japanese machine’s painted up as dinosaurs in the past. It has certainly received more than its fair share of publicity over the years since the idea was first conceived. Viewed from up on a bridge this Caterpillar 324E excavator was being prepared to lift some manhole rings into place. This Hitachi Zaxis 225USR LC short radius style excavator was doing a reduce dig on the southbound carriageway and was supported by a Komatsu D31 dozer which was trimming up in the cut ahead of a single drum self-propelled roller. Finally in this batch a shot of Potter Plant Hire’s Caterpillar 12M 2 motor grader which sadly on the day of Earthmovers Magazine's visit was not actually working. It was a great day on site meeting up with so many of the lads who read the blog and I really look forward to visiting this forward thinking company again in the future.
