New Doosan DX-7 medium-sized excavators

Doosan Infracore Europe has unveiled 10 new medium-sized excavators to complete its latest DX-7 series. All crawler and wheeled members of this 17-strong range boast a Stage 5 engine and weigh between 14 and 25 tonnes. All machines feature a new High Comfort cab plus Tiltrotator Mode, heavier counterweights, enhanced tool carrying capability, smarter hydraulics, a Fine Swing function and a new lifting eye.

First up are the 14.6-tonne DX140LC-7, 15.9-tonne DX140LCR-7 (reduced tail swing) and 17-tonne DX160HT-7 (High Track) Crawler Excavators. All three models are equipped with the Doosan D34 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 115hp at 2,000rpm. A new hydraulic main valve and new-generation SPC3 Smart Power Controls further boost fuel efficiency. The previous-generation machines’ eight power modes have been reduced to four (P+, P, S and E) and the operator is able to set them in both one-way and two-way working modes.

Next up in the expanded DX-7 range are the 23.3-tonne DX235LC-7, 24.3-tonne DX235LCR-7 (reduced radius) and 25.7-tonne DX255LC-7 Crawler Excavators – all of which outpunch their Stage 4-engined predecessors. Under the bright orange skin you’ll find the latest-generation Doosan DL06V 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 173hp, 189hp and 189hp in each model respectively. This engine goes without EGR and instead relies on DOC/DPF+SCR after-treatment technology to cut emissions, which also extends DPF maintenance to every 8,000 hours.

The DX235LC-7 and DX255LC-7 are equipped with a 5-tonne counterweight as standard, while the DX235LCR-7 packs a 6.4-tonne lump out back. For work with heavier attachments, an optional 7.4-tonne counterweight can be specced on the DX235LCR-7 and a 5.5-tonne counterweight is available on the DX255LC-7.

The 17.9-tonne DX165WR-7 wheeled excavator is a new short tail machine with 4-cylinder, Stage 5 Perkins engine making 137hp at 2,000rpm. This machine is built with the same undercarriage as the new DX160W-7 model to the benefit of its centre of gravity, weight distribution and overall stability.

A 3.3-tonne counterweight is standard for both monoboom and articulated boom configurations, while a 3.8-tonne counterweight lurks on the options list. Another standard feature on the DX165WR-7 is the Auto Digging Brake, which automatically holds the service brake when the vehicle comes to a stop. Joystick steering is optional, as is Boom Suspension (Load Isolation System).

The final three new additions to the DX-7 line-up are the 17.7-tonne DX170W-7, 20-tonne DX190W-7 and 21.9-tonne DX210W-7 wheeled excavators. All have the same improved front movement and working range, plus increased articulated boom cylinder stroke, and new boom cylinder lock valve as the DX165WR-7, while their new smart hydraulic system boosts attachment work by 30% compared with the previous models.

Doosan’s DL06V diesel engine features here too, powering the DX170W-7, DX190W-7 and DX210W-7 in 149hp, 162hp an 189hp forms respectively. The DX170W-7 and DX190W-7 are equipped with a 3.2-tonne counterweight as standard (a 3.7-tonne counterweight is optional on the DX170W-7). The straight monoboom version of the DX210W-7 has a standard 4-tonne counterweight and the articulated excavator has a 3.2-tonne counterweight as standard. Optional counterweights of 4.5 tonnes and 4 tonnes are available for the straight and articulated models, respectively.
