New Hitachi ZX150W-7 wheeled excavator

Revealed at bauma 2022 in late October, the new Hitachi ZX150W-7 wheeled excavator boasts a 105kw engine and HIOS V hydraulic system that increases front speed and delivers 5% less fuel consumption than the previous model. The ZX150W-7 has an operating weight of 15,300 to 17,200kg and attachments for the machine can be transported using the optional trailer support package; attachments are easily changed using the enhanced attachment support system.

Hitachi reckons the redesigned Zaxis-7 cab is the perfect working environment for operators, offering plenty of space, comfort and low noise levels with less vibration than the previous generation. The seat and console have a synchronised motion, while access to controls including those for cruise control, the automatic transmission and the optional ride control system that suppresses vibrations from the front attachment is said to be easy.

Elsewhere, the cab screen, joysticks and auto working brake have increase functionality. Visibility is boosted by an Aerial Angle camera system providing a 270-degree bird’s-eye view of the machine. Operators can choose from six image options on the monitor to view the immediate environment. Their vision through the cab’s front window is also improved by the slim steering column (with wider adjustment angle) and smaller steering wheel.

The new Hitachi ZX150W-7 is also fitted with features such as LED work lights, a windscreen wiper with an increased sweeping area, and larger mirrors.  For additional safety, the upper structure and front attachment will lock in place when the machine is in the correct position, for driving on public roads.

The ZX150W-7 has a single-piece undercarriage that benefits from greater oscillation of the front axle, enhanced outrigger hydraulics and fenders protecting the upper structure from dirt. Downtime is prevented by the durable after-treatment system, and minimised by the priority given to easy maintenance and cleaning, reckons Hitachi.

The Hitachi remote monitoring system gives access to data courtesy of Owner’s Site and ConSite. Both systems send operational data via GPRS or satellite from the excavator to Global e-Service on a daily basis. ConSite summarises the information in a monthly email, and the ConSite Pocket app shows real-time alerts for any potential issues. Engine and hydraulic oils are monitored 24/7.
