New Komatsu ADT arrives

Komatsu’s all-new HM460-6 model articulated dump truck has arrived on the market.

Built on what their UK and Ireland distributor, McHale Plant Sales’ director, Denis McGrath calls “the proven legacy of its predecessors”, the new HM460-6 is said to combine over 100 years of expertise to set what Komatsu says:  ‘is a new benchmark in articulated dump truck performance’.

Soon to feature at the McHale Plant Sales stand at Hillhead Quarry show in June, McGrath confirms a number of units are already on order for both Irish and UK customers.

Delivering outstanding off-road capability with exceptional durability and increased productivity, a key feature is its ‘up to 22% better fuel efficiency’ which, when coupled with its many other plus points will, McGrath says: “reduce the total cost of ownership”.

Equipped with a Komatsu next generation engine and transmission combination, the HM460 boasts advanced control systems that enhance operational efficiency and ease of use. Smart features that include cruise control, hill start assist, waiting brake, and semi-auto dumping contribute to safe handling, reduced operator fatigue, and optimal fuel efficiency.

Human-centric operator comfort, safety, and control come from a design whose features include an all-new super-sized cabin with increased visibility and reduced blind spots. Other driver-pleasing elements include a new deluxe leather air-suspended seat with heating and ventilation, a foldable trainer seat, a new digital dashboard, ergonomically arranged controls, and a 10” high-resolution rear-view monitor.

Smart Quarry Site readiness means the HM460-6 easily becomes a connected productivity system, with real-time dashboards for fuel usage, operator performance, fleet utilisation, and production tracking. Supplied with a comprehensive suite of standard safety technologies that includes machine inclination monitoring, rollover prevention, and a seat belt reminder system, Smart Quarry Site also gives jobsite managers a complete overview of operations – anytime, anywhere.

In the HM460-6, pre-start checks, operator recognition, and real-time, in-cab feedback help streamline work planning, reduce downtime, and improve safety – a combination that, McGrath says: “can result in lower operating costs, faster decision-making, and a smarter, more profitable jobsite”.

Extended maintenance intervals and centralised service points also reduce downtime thereby lowering the total cost of ownership, while residual value is enhanced with EU Stage V and USA Tier 4 final EPA engine dual labelling as standard.
