New Komatsu PC24MR‐5

Komatsu Europe has revealed details of its new PC24MR‐5 mini-excavator, which forms part of the manufacturer’s MR‐5 range. Equipped with a Stage 5 emissions-compliant, three-cylinder engine producing 21.2hp (15.8kW) and 66.6Nm of torque, the PC24MR‐5 has a maximum digging depth of 2.62m and a maximum digging reach of 4.5m. Bucket capacity ranges from 0.035 to 0.085 cubic metres; maximum bucket digging force is 18.8kN, whilst arm crowd force tops out at 13.6kN.

The new 2,430kg PC24MR‐5 sits between the PC18MR-5 and PC26MR-5, and has been refreshed for the European market. Easily transported on a 3.5-tonne trailer, and ideal for jobs in tight spaces thanks to its compact 1.45m-wide undercarriage, the new mini-excavator has a 35mm lower step height than its predecessor, which leads to a comfort cab with a wider door than before and spring-assisted windows. The fuel-filling point has been lowered by 300mm too.

The all-new MR-5 range builds on the successful MR-3. Machines boast several safety-boosting features such as a seat belt indicator, an easily accessible secondary shut down switch and protected PPC levers. The MR-5 range also benefits from factory-fit options such as fingertip proportional controls and a hydraulic quick-coupler line.
