New Volvo for new venture

Lanark-based C L Drainage and Fencing Ltd has treated itself to a brand new Volvo EC140E excavator. C L Drainage and Fencing Ltd is a relatively new venture, set up by business partners David Clark and John Longmuir in September 2018. The company specialises in: agricultural contracting, land drainage, fencing, road construction and maintenance on large farms and privately owned estates. The pair were already familiar with the Volvo brand thanks to time spent at A R Lyon Land Drainage Contractors operating a 14-tonne digger.

“When Alasdair passed away, it was his widow who helped us get set up in our new venture by leasing us his EC140E and other equipment. Our first year has been very encouraging, so much so that we took the decision to buy our own fourteen-tonne machine,” commented David.

C L Drainage and Fencing’s EC140E is powered by a four-cylinder Stage V compliant Volvo engine, developing 122hp. The cab, meanwhile, boasts a 14-vent climate control system and LCD monitor providing real time information on the machine’s functions. Hammer/shear hydraulics are offered as standard on the EC140E, as are hose rupture valves on the boom and dipper cylinders. The Volvo sold to C L Drainage and Fencing Ltd also features proportional hydraulic control, to enhance its performance when being used with the tilting hitch, grading beam and tree shear that have been sourced locally.
