Ollie and Eddie’s Swedish Roadtrip (Part Two)

According to Ollie, this year’s show was not as big as previous events, but there was still plenty to see and attendance was good, with a total of 15,056 visitors coming thorough the gates over the 3-day period. One of the first port of calls was to the Hjerpes stand, who are dealers for the Turkish Hidromek range of machines. Ollie takes up the story, “The skid steer and the HMK145 LCR had literally been driven through the night before from Turkey to get them to the show on time, hence why there was only a hitch on the tracked 14 tonner. This company are also contractors too and use all the machines themselves in addition to selling them so they are well up to speed with the performance of the products”. “Most of the machines on stand were specced up to the usual Swedish standard including light bar framework around the top of the cab for those long winter days and nights”. "They also had some big motor graders on display from both Hidromek and HBM, unusually the Hidromek was sporting an orange livery in this instance”. “They are also selling these small graders the Easy Grader, which I believe are from America. It was a really nice size and only weighed 2.7 ton making it ideal for towing. They are making a 6-wheel drive version at the moment, which will come with a cab. This particular one has gone straight out to work from the show doing footpaths and cycle tracks. They cost £135k but at £85ph+ the price works out, and considering that’s the same as what the big graders make, they are on a good rate”. “There was also a Hidromek HMK390LC on the stand sporting the SMP hitch and bucket which gives zero build height so giving maximum breakout force. This hitch will go up to 100ton. The other machines on the stand had colour co-ordinated Engcon’s fitted”. “This American Gradall machine was a bit of a rarity at a show, they were giving a bit of a demonstration of it, but given the type of machine it is, there wasn’t that much they were able to do with it. He was saying that they sell a lot in America for doing the verges at the side of the roads, and this one was going straight from the show to work underground in a mine”. Look out for the next instalment of Ollie and Eddie’s Road Trip to MaskinExpo soon.
