Powell sticks with Volvo for latest purchase

Surrey-based Powell Groundworks has just taken delivery of its 15th Volvo machine, this time opting for an E series ECR145 with reduced tail swing for tackling jobs in woods, forests and private estates.

The Stage 5 emissions-compliant ECR145E is equipped with a Steelwrist tilt-rotator for handling an array of attachments including pallet forks, grading and digging buckets, tree grapple, shear, ripper tooth, a screener, an asphalt cutter and a grading beam. The 17-tonne Volvo ECR145E also features a factory-fitted dozer blade, and an additional hydraulic circuit for grab rotation and proportional hydraulic control for precise handling.

To prevent ground damage, the 121hp machine is further enhanced with the fitting of 700mm duraline rubber blocks that clip onto the standard steel track pads. With a 4.6m monobloc boom and 3m dipper arm, the maximum reach is 8.86m. Dig depth measures at 6m and practical load over height equals 6.87m. The lifting capacity across carriage at full reach is 1.8 tonnes, and the maximum breakout force measures 85.4kN.
