Quiet entry for Cat’s C Series ADT’s

The new models include the 725C, 730C and the 730C EJ ejector model. These replacements for the outgoing B Series are built in the North East of England at Caterpillars articulated hauler facility in Peterlee, which is on the site of the old DJB factory. The three new models feature more powerful engines, advanced transmission control, improved maintenance and servicing features, and various improvements to the cab interior and controls. The two 730C variants also benefit from the inclusion of automatic traction control. The design of the new models, which also features a new and more appealing front bonnet design, centres largely on customer requests for increased productivity, lower operating costs, superior availability, long-term durability, added rimpull/retarding capability, ease of operation, high resale value, and maximum rental margins. The 725C has a rated payload capacity of 26 tons (23.6 tonnes), and the 730C and 730C EJ models are rated at 31 tons (28 tonnes). In this video from Caterpillar we get a walk-around of the product with an explanation of the basic principles of working with ADT’s. Some of it is a bit like teaching people to suck eggs, but it’s an interesting overview just the same.
I expect to see the top end 740C ADT launched at some point next year possibly as early as Conexpo in Las Vegas, and I look forward to bringing more news on these machines after Christmas, here on the Digger Man Blog.
