Takeuchi at Plantworx

Visitors to next week's Plantworx show can put the new, battery powered TB20e mini-excavator to the test. The machine will be taking charge of Takeuchi Time, a timed operator challenge where visitors can win daily prizes. The competition is hosted by 2021 UK Plant Operator Winner, Dave Vickers (@diggingwithdave2023). The challenge tests machine operators’ precision skills and speed on the newest fully electric Takeuchi.

The TB20e is the latest innovation in the Takeuchi excavator line-up. A fully electric machine, and the first Takeuchi excavator to feature electro-hydraulic controls. Built with the same all steel construction, heavy duty boom and retractable under carriage, matching the performance of its diesel equivalent.

The TB20e is 100% battery powered with zero exhaust emissions. With a full charge the 24.7kWh, maintenance-free lithium-ion battery provides up to eight hours of operating time at 65% load. The TB20e features an on-board charger with two options – charge static or whilst operating. An additional off-board Fast charger is available, reducing charge time to two hours.

Takeuchi says the TB20e is ideal for applications in noise sensitive areas such as schools or hospitals, operating at 80dB and 15% quieter than a diesel excavator. This environment friendly option offers a more sustainable choice, reckons its maker.
