Takeuchi launches new TB395W

Takeuchi has added a wheeled model, the TB395W, to its growing excavator product line. The TB395W, complete with 2-piece boom, provides owner/operators with a highly versatile option that combines powerful excavating performance with on-road capabilities, reckons its maker.

The new TB395W provides a larger, high-performing machine complete with all the unique benefits of a wheeled unit, including higher travel speeds and the ability to handle both on- and off-road applications. The TB395W features two 4-wheel steering options – 4WS (all-wheel steering) and 4WSC (crab steering). Auto Cruise enables operators to set and adjust their travel speeds by pressing a button or operating a toggle switch (on an optional, multi-function grip). Auto Cruise is ideal for attachments that require a consistent, repeatable travel speed, such as a mulcher, mower or trencher.

The TB395W features the new 3-Series interior styling for an improved cab experience. Using the machine’s intuitive automotive styled jog dial, operators can easily navigate and control the TB395W’s monitor, including its heating and climate control as well as DAB radio functions. Simple, one-touch control switches operate other machine functions on the 8-inch colour touchscreen.

The TB395W excavator weighs 10,625kg equipped with outriggers and a blade. It is powered by a Stage 5-compliant Deutz engine delivering 85kW of power and up to 460Nm of torque. With 4,095mm digging depth and 6,240mm dump height make it particularly useful on construction sites, Takeuchi says. The excavator offers a maximum bucket breakout force of 58.9kN, a maximum arm digging force of 39.7kN and a traction force of 57.8kN.

The long arm allows for greater clearance between the bucket and dozer blade, operators of the TB395W can pull the bucket all the way to the dozer blade, ideal when working in narrow spaces or moving an obstacle out of the way. When it comes to servicing the machine, the TB395W offers a wide-opening rear engine service door and an overhead-opening right-side cover. Both the service door and right-side cover are constructed of durable steel to discourage vandalism and theft.

Operator’s view
At the recently held Plantworx 2023 construction event, the show’s Best Operator award went to Owen Mays. He worked exclusively on the new Takeuchi TB395W fitted with an engcon tilt-rotator and simulated various highways manoeuvres.

Here’s what Owen had to say about Takeuchi's new excavator. “The new TB395W really is a stand-out machine. The simultaneous functions, especially with an engcon attachment, make a massive difference. Overall, the machine is smooth and very well balanced with precise Takeuchi controls. The cab has had a really nice upgrade with the colour touchscreen, and all controls are within easy reach.”

Owen also appreciated the smooth steering and retractable fuel hose feature. “Takeuchi wheeled models now come as standard with a 2-piece boom and I wouldn’t drive anything but a 2-piece on site,” Owen affirmed.
