‘Two Men in Mind’ JCB Archives

The video focuses on the relationship JCB has with two individuals of most importance, namely, the machine operator and the machine owner. The film entitled Two Men in Mind was produced in 1977, which coincidently is the year I started working in the construction plant industry with Wimpey’s. As a kid I had grown up slightly obsessed with JCB machines, which my father operated for his entire life, a scenario that gave me a lot of exposure to them on a regular basis when accompanying him to work on the weekends.

As such, I have fond memories of so many of the classic machines which are featured in this film, and during my early years at work with Wimpey’s, we had some of the very first JCB 520 telescopic handlers that are also featured in the footage.

JCB’s Hawker Siddley 125 private jet, of that era, also makes an appearance in the film, I also recall that plane coming into land at Southampton/Eastleigh airport back in the day on a regular basis, as my parents house was right under the flight path for landing. At the time local dealers F. English, and later on Berkeley JCB had premises within the airport grounds.

The film features all the classic JCB products from back in the day including 3C backhoe loaders, 100-series crawler loaders, 400-series wheeled loaders and 800-series hydraulic excavators, so grab a coffee, sit back and enjoy this trip down memory lane with JCB, complete with 1970’s style commentary, fashion, music and hair styles, its just brilliant stuff!
