Unusual spec dozers spotted

Michael came across a batch of dozers that are working two hours to the North of Perth, as he returned back home on a Sunday evening after a day playing on his quad bike in the Lancelin sand dunes, Mike stopped by to take some shots. These machines are working on a contract for Telstra, who are Australia’s main phone and broadband network, similar to our BT in this country. This first machine is a heavily converted Komatsu D355 cable plough dozer, take note of the various pulleys over the cab and the ripper/plough shank that has plenty of adjustment holes for different depths. Next we see a Caterpillar D7H, fitted with a six way blade, but featuring a different set up with the adjustment rams on the draft arms. We are unsure if this has been a modification by a third party, or if it was of Caterpillar design for the Australian market. Last up in this batch from Michael we see a Komatsu 275 (D9 size) and a Cat D10T, which according to Michael looked very new machines, which are fitted with forestry spec brush guards. These machines have been ripping limestone and clearing trees and bushland in preparation for the new broadband cable to be installed by the following Komatsu 355. As Michael said, this is standard procedure in Australia with the massive size of the country, and unlike any cable laying operation he had ever seen previously in the UK, where you would be more likely to see mini excavators and utilities gangs on the job! We thank Michael for sharing more of his photos with us here on the Digger Man Blog.
