Wormell Plant Hire relies on the A-team

Wormell Plant Hire has been in operation in the East of England since the late 1970s, and many of the machines that the company currently has on its fleet are Hyundai’s A-series crawler excavators.

“We’ve used Hyundais since the very beginning,” explained Steve Wormell, Managing Director of Wormell Plant Hire. “We started with a tracked excavator in the 80s and as we’ve grown and evolved, the Hyundai fleet has grown with us. We’ve always found them to be reliable machines and Hyundai is a well-respected brand in the marketplace, so our customers know they’re getting a good product. We haven’t had the problems, particularly with AdBlue, that some other machines have had.

“Our local dealer, Ernest Doe, has been brilliant,” Steve continued. “We’ve been with them for a long time now and they offer us great value for money and fantastic support, so we’re happy to keep doing business with them and with Hyundai. We’ve got more than 20 Hyundai excavators in our fleet at the moment, the newest of which are the HX85A compact excavator and the new HX140AL, HX220AL and HX300AL crawlers. We can offer everything from a 3-tonne mini up to a 30-tonne Hyundai machine.”

Wormell Plant Hire supplies equipment on an operated or self-drive basis for a wide range of projects, from housebuilding to quarrying, waste management to muck-shifting and solar installations. Working throughout East Anglia, the Hyundai machines are currently employed on a variety of projects, including at an Essex waste incineration plant and a £13 million property development in Colchester.

“There’s a lot of dirt to shift on these projects and the Hyundais are doing a sterling job. We have received very positive feedback from our operators and they’re delivering good performance and efficiency, which is crucial to us and our customers,” Steve said. “The Hyundai is a well perceived machine in the market. We’ve been going over 40 years now, so we know what we need from our machines. We’ve always chosen Hyundai and that isn’t going to change any time soon.”

Supplied by local Hyundai dealer Ernest Doe, the A-series crawler and tracked excavators are powered by Stage 5 Cummins engine. More cabin space and advanced control technologies greatly increase operator comfort and productivity for the A-series models, says Hyundai, while a tough exterior design, added safety features and great serviceability mean companies can rely on the latest Hyundai machines to perform in the toughest conditions, making them a decent choice for rental.
