A visit to Wacker Neuson in Linz

Our friends from Icelandic Wacker Neuson dealership Thor Ltd have just returned from a visit to the stunning factory facility in the Austrian town of Linz and they have kindly shared some photos with us from the trip.

I have never visited this facility but I am told it is a state of the art factory which covers some 55,000m2 on a site of approximately 170,000m2 which is ideally located close to the Linz Airport. The factory has at least six assembly lines and focuses on the production of mini excavators ranging from 900kgs up to 14,000kgs and site dumper models ranging from 800kgs up to 9,000kgs. 14248139_10210759190156977_1992816910_o It takes approximately 40 hours to assemble one machine at this world class facility, with the assembly line divided up into different sectors. As with all production facilities like this, it is impressive to watch the machines travelling down the line and finally coming to life at the end of the process. 14285160_10210759190436984_389934325_o There is a massive stock holding area outside of the factory buildings which is roughly the size of four football pitches, at the time of Thor’s visit there were around 1,400 machines parked up with many of them already sold and some just for stock. 14247832_10210759190596988_1264181317_o Wacker Neuson also have a dedicated demonstration plot where visitors to the facility can try out the latest products in a real life digging scenario. 14247869_10210759190996998_31870737_o Also on display at the facility is the very first Neuson (before Wacker joined forces) 2100RD mini excavator ever built by the company, which has been restored to original the factory finish. 14315937_10210759190076975_1578492856_o New developments were also on display like the new site dumper featuring the company‘s Dual View cab, which can be turned 180 degrees with the flick of a lever offering the operator world class leading visibility in either direction, a fantastic piece of innovation! 14284919_10210759190556987_839029228_o Check out this promotional video about the Wacker Neuson factory which although old now, still gives a great insight into the facility.
