Big Cat amphibian spotted at Intermat

Amongst all the main stream manufacturers displaying their kit at Intermat in Paris last month, there were a number of unusual gems to be discovered like this amphibious Cat conversion.

This large amphibious machine has been assembled by Dutch company Bell Dredging Pumps. The actual excavator is a Caterpillar 336E which has been given additional lettering LRA (Long Reach Amphibious). The machine weighs in at 45,000kgs and is powered by a Cat C9.9 Acert engine which produces a power output rating of 224kw (300hp) and features a 16m long reach boom and dipper combination. This impressive machines massive heavy duty undercarriage includes 3 track chains per pontoon and in turn each pontoon is driven by 2 hydraulic motors. The machine was briefly demonstrated at Intermat and was caught on this video footage by Cristijn Van Den Biggelaar.   I could do with one of these machines for a weed clearance job on the lake here at home, so if anyone wants to demo one give me a shout!
