Building Excellence – The Takeuchi Story
I came across this video on the weekend while searching for new material for the blog, and I’m delighted to include here in this post.
It’s no secret, that with my operator head on, I’m a big fan of the Takeuchi products, they might not be the biggest manufacturer in the world, but they make a great range of compact equipment, they do it right, and they do it well.
Theres a good reason why so many utilities company’s and landscape contractors specify the red & grey machines, as aside from the legendary smooth hydraulics, the machines have long proven to be super reliable, durable and hold their resale value.

Founded in Japan in 1963 by Akio Takeuchi, Takeuchi Manufacturing revolutionized the construction industry by inventing the world's first compact excavator in 1971 and the first compact rubber track loader in 1986. Today, the brand is a global leader, operating out of Japan with wholly-owned subsidiaries globally.

The video below tells the story behind Takeuchi’s rise in the mini excavator and compact equipment sector. A brand that has been built on skilled craftmanship, a strong focus on customer’s requirements, and a typically Japanese passion for solving real-world challenges.

This is even more special as Takeuchi UK are celebrating 30 years of supplying machines to dealers right here in the United Kingdom. Its long been a dream of mine to visit the Takeuchi factory in Nagano, hopefully I will make there before I'm put out to pasture!
The film has been filmed in multiple countries including the UK, so keep a keen eye out for people, machines and sites that you might recognise during the footage. The film is just over 10 minutes long, but its great viewing so grab a coffee and enjoy!
