Buildwitt Gets Up Close and Personal with the Komatsu PC7000

Our American friend and global heavy machinery internet sensation Aaron Witt, gets access to some of the coolest machinery on the planet, and with his team, produces some amazing content, which is always a pleasure to share here on the Digger Man Blog.

It’s very rare for me to get anywhere near any of this massive kit, and like most people, the only time I get to see any of it is during visits to the massive Bauma Trade Fair in Munich every 3 years.

That was the case during last years Bauma show, when we got the opportunity to take a look around the Komatsu PC7000 Electric which was the showstopper once again at the triennial event, however, there was unfortunately no opportunity to get behind the levers on such a big machine, something that continues to evade me!

However, Aaron, and his Buildwitt production crew, did get the opportunity to spend some time in the 700-tonne behemoth hydraulic excavator, when he was kindly invited to Komatsu’s proving grounds in Arizona to get up close and personal with the machine.

These giant Komatsu’s whose historical heritage stems from the German built Demag machines, are still built in Germany to this day, and shipped in component form to customers around the world, especially to territories where big mining operations are taking place.

Powered by two 1,500hp diesel engines, or in its electric version, the machine can move in excess of 15,000 tonnes of material per day, which is super impressive.

In the video below Aaron gets exclusive access to the machine, and presents the details in his usual style with plenty of humour in the mix, it’s a fantastic, fun and informative watch, so enjoy!
