Cat displays versatility of Engcon tiltrotator in Sweden

Well Cat week continues here on the Digger Man Blog on this my last day in Malaga, with a look back to one of the many site visits I was treated to during my visit to Sweden with Engcon in 2012.

My first tour of sites took place in the beautiful and scenic city of Ostersund, the capital of Jamtland County which is located on the shores of Sweden’s fifth largest lake, Lake Storsjon “The Great Lake”. Nils Giesen from Engcon, took us to see some machines in action around the city including this Cat 329D which was owned by Curt Silstrom and was engaged in drainage work on a housing development site on land that was once owned by the military. The highly pimped machine was in fantastic condition and was operated by Marcus Bergman. What we witnessed here was typical of the Scandinavian approach to excavation work, one man on the ground and one tiltrotator equipped machine & operator working in perfect harmony together, as Marcus brought the pipes over to the work area and then using the integrated Engcon grab picked up and placed the pipe into the trench which in turn cuts down on the manual labour aspect required. I had a quick chat with Marcus, who was clearly surprised at how some people outside of the Nordic countries cannot see the benefits of the tiltrotator. Well now 3 years down the line I would be happy to tell Marcus that people are increasingly catching on to the idea in the UK and I expect to see sales of the game changing attachments continue to rise over the coming years. They won’t suit everyone of course, but as a tool for the owner/operator they will always give you the edge over the competition. Here is a short video clip I took of Marcus in action with his Cat.
