Cat rolls out a new 100 tonner

Even though the global mining market remains challenging, earthmoving machinery giant Caterpillar has recently launched a new 100 tonne class mining excavator, which I suspect many of us will get a first glimpse of at Bauma in Munich next year.

The machine builds on the legacy of the old 5110B model and has been built to deliver a substantial productivity advantage. The machine which is fitted with a large 8.1-cubic metre bucket, is powered by a Cat C27 ACERT engine which provides 606 kW of rated power and equates to a 20 percent productivity advantage over existing 100-ton shovels. The 6015B is also optimized to fill a Cat 773 truck in four passes, a 775 in five passes, and a 777 in seven passes. In addition, a U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final C27 engine option meets emissions standards in highly regulated countries. Cat do love a catchy tag line that we all know and love, this one gets  the “Load More, Make More” handle which the company freely admits is more of a statement of the machines production capability. Check out this promotional video on the 6015B from Caterpillar.
