D6N Slope Assist technology

Sticking with the dozer theme from yesterday’s blog now, with a look at the latest technology advances on the ever popular Cat D6N LGP.

D6N Slope Assist technology
It’s fair to say that the Cat D6 sized tractor in its various guises is without doubt one of the most widely used dozers in the UK. Although I don’t claim to be a dozer operator of any high skill level, I do recall with great fondness sitting on a D6C model as a youngster pushing over a tip on the weekends during construction of the M27 in the mid 1970’s. With the new Grade Control and Slope Assist technologies that Caterpillar introduced earlier this year, operating a dozer will now be much easier for those novice operators. DSC_0017 The Cat D6N LGP in the hands of someone who is at the top of his game is sight to behold, but it is becoming harder to find operators, not just for dozers but all kinds of plant, with the skills required to get the job done. Its important that the industry embraces this new technology which can only help company's to deal with the skills shortage.
