Digger gets back in the Scandinavian style

Swedish plant and machinery show MaskinExpo, which this year boasts 403 exhibitors, opens its doors today at the “Stoxa” Stockholm Outdoor Exhibition Area just 12 km’s from Arlanda airport and runs for 3 days 28th – 30th May.

The show is a great eye opener to anyone who wants the see the cutting edge approach that our Swedish cousins have to the world of excavation, hydraulics and attachment utilization. As I post this blog I am travelling across to visit the show once more for the first time since 2013 when I was last lucky enough to visit. So in this blog I thought I would post a few more shots from that last visit. As featured earlier this week on the blog, here we see another Bobcat/grader combo this time in the form of a larger T870 model and featuring a Bobcat grader unit. This machine is getting an in cab inspection from one of the youngsters that a regular sight at the MaskinExpo show, which does always have a family feel to it. The Big Float 800 amphibious excavator which features a Yanmar upper structure made for an impressive sight on one of the lakes within the showground which coincidentally used to be the site of a golf course. Of course being in Sweden everywhere you turn there are tiltrotator’s in action and here on the Wacker Neuson stand we see two examples from leading manufacturers Engcon and Steelwrist whose model is mounted on a 38Z3 3.8 tonne zero tailswing model. As in many other countries these days the Chinese brands are making good headway into the relevant markets. In Sweden the LiuGong main dealer is Peters Lastmaskiner AB who always puts on a good display of machines specified to Swedish standards. Indexator Rototilt had another impressive display with one of their Advance range of tiltrotators mounted on a Komatsu HB215 Hybrid machines. Another popular feature on the Indexator stand is arm wrestling, seen on the left hand side of this shot, which seems to be a very popular “sport” in Sweden! There is always a fun filled atmosphere at MaskinExpo and everyone is encouraged to take part in the myriad of challenges and activities that are going on. Just like the blonde lady in this shot hooking buckets with a Kubota U10-3. Always expect the unexpected too, like this tracked version of the Huddig 1260C. We expect to see the new Huddig Tigon featuring Hybrid technology at this year’s event too, something I hope to be casting my eye over. As the sun sets on another Scandinavian adventure, it will be a quick dash back to the UK to prepare for our own big event and the Sell-Out 2015 edition of Plantworx, I hope to see you there!
