Digger returns to JCB

Today the Digger Man Blog is once again visiting the World Headquarters of UK construction machinery giant JCB for another International Press event, but just what will JCB have to show us today.

In this post I am taking a look back at my last visit to Rocester and some of the machines I was invited to take a look at in 2014. The Tier 4i emissions complaint JCB JS145W wheeled excavator was being demonstrated in JCB’s impressive quarry facility, with the optional factory fitted Steelwrist tilt-rotator, seen here picking up a caged pallet. The then newly launched JCB 457 wheeled loader features Tier 4i technology. The 186 kW Cummins engine is rated to a 4-speed ZF fully automatic powershift transmission for stepless gear changes and smooth operation. What’s more, with three axle options, including open differentials, limited slip differentials and automatic locking differentials, a 457 will always help you keep a grip on productivity.  A class leading operators cab offers excellent visibility around the entire machine. On the compact wheeled loader front JCB displayed the 407 model. This machine is fitted with a 48kw engine and is ideal as a multi-purpose tool carrier on both farms and construction sites alike. This event was also the launch pad for the JCB 65 R-1 reduced tailswing midi excavator.  Powered by a Perkins 48hp (36.9kW) Tier 3 emissions compliant engine, this 6 tonne class machine has been well received by the industry and offers significant improvements on the older models in this class. Finally it was on this visit that I got to grips with the new JCB 1CXT compact tracked backhoe loader for Earthmovers Magazine. I wonder what the team will have in mind for me to try out during this visit? As I go to post this blog I can reveal that last night JCB officially launched a brand new product, the 3CX Compact, a mini backhoe loader on steroids! More detail to follow later this week. Needless to say I will keep you posted with the latest developments here on the Digger Man Blog and in the magazine over the coming weeks.
