Diggers Intermat highlights (Part Two)

Continuing my look back at last week’s Intermat 2015 exhibition featuring some of my highlights from the event in Paris.

On “home turf” innovative French manufacturer Mecalac had an impressive all action stand with plenty of demonstrations going on throughout the day. Of particular interest to me was the range of Mecalac Crawler Rapide (MCR) models that were on static display. Readers may recall that we featured the UK’s first 6MCR model in the April edition of Earthmovers Magazine which is owned and operated by Graham Sandercock in Cornwall. The 3 models in the range were represented on stand including the 6MCR, 8MCR which was sporting steel tracks and the 10MCR which is currently the largest in the range. There were also examples of larger 14 tonne class wheeled and tracked excavators including this Mecalac 714MCE compact radius machine which looks like a fantastic piece of kit. Another stunning display was the Case Construction Equipment stand, where a host of new products could be seen. Highlight for me here was the official launch of the new Case grader range which included this 856C AWD model. Case also unveiled their latest Tier 4 Final D series excavators including this CX210D. These Sumitomo based machines just seem to be getting better all the time, a real operators machine in every aspect. In the outdoor recycling area, one of the latest attachments from Xcentric was being demonstrated on a Hyundai 330-9A machine.  According to Xcentric this crusher has been designed with new technology making it able to achieve more profitable production levels than competitive crusher buckets. Compact kit was very prevalent on the Volvo stand this year, with the new EC18D mini excavator gaining a lot of attention. Expect to see these and many other new models at Plantworx later this year. On the larger side of things the new E series hydraulic excavators were very prominent on the stand including the new EW160E wheeled excavator and the ECR235E L compact radius model which was displayed on the stand fitted with a Steelwrist tiltrotator. Liebherr’s compact radius excavators, continue to impress, with the R 914 proving to be attractive to UK buyers at the moment. I also spotted this impressive looking R 926 Compact which looked awesome with its two piece boom arrangement and hydraulic tilting bucket. Liebherr also displayed its new addition to the Generation 6 range of crawler tractors the PR 746 Litronic. This machine offers an operating weight of 28,900kg to 30,800kgs depending on specification and is powered by a Tier 4 final Liebherr diesel engine offering a power output of 185kw (252hp). This machine is also joined in the range by the larger PR 756 model. A blue overload awaited visitors to the stunning Kobelco stand who had amassed a massive range of its machines to show off in the brilliant Paris sunshine. This dynamic colour scheme makes such a refreshing change from the usual various shades of yellow or orange that a majority of manufacturers plump for. One of the largest excavators on the stand was the SK500 LC 50 tonne class machine which looks fantastic in this shot with the backdrop of cranes. A complete new range of mini excavators was also on display from the Japanese giant which are certain to appeal to fans of the brand. The new range features 7 models, of which 6 were displayed at Intermat and all are below 3 tonnes in weight. Kobelco are more well-known for their short radius mini excavators, but one that caught my eye was the new conventional tailswing SK26 which does look rather familiar. Lookout for more highlights from Intermat 2015 later this week on the Digger Man Blog.
