Digger’s weekly social media round up #10

Taking a look back now at some of the highlights of the Digger Man Blogs social media activity and interaction with our readers and members from the past week.

Digger’s weekly social media round up #10
The subject of grime laden joysticks was a popular topic of conversation on the DMB Facebook page this week when Brian Dempster posted a photo of a rather dirty one he had encountered at work. I have to say it’s one of my big pet hates knowing that there could be a whole host of not so welcome bacteria’s on the said joysticks and I for one, always have a multi-purpose anti-bacterial spray in my bag when I take over another machine! If that sounds a bit OCD then so be it, but that’s the way I roll and so do many others judging from the response on this topic. Join the debate here. 14232365_1276012772432613_4361247070441353656_n Another popular topic this week was Gareth Hughes’s discovery of a rare Tana G520 sheep’s foot style landfill compactor that he had come across on his travels. There were plenty of people who had encountered one of these unusual machines before and the topic made for an interesting debate on the Facebook page which you can find by following this link. 14222249_10154477326552801_3621816736475571949_n It was also great to see my old pal from Down Under Gary Steen join the Digger Man Blog Facebook page this week. Although I have never met Gary in person it’s clear from our various email communications over the years that he is as passionate about his kit as the rest of us and also started out in the game from a very early age. During the early years of the blog Gary used to often send me great photos to share with the DMB faithful. I was delighted to see this shot of a Cat D11T with multi shank ripper which attracted 57 likes from the readers. Gary has a fantastic portfolio of photos from his years in the game. Why not check this one out here. 14199713_1387695931244571_3224405531878983996_n Machine man Dave Mollart posed the question, “Has anyone else used there bucket for cooking a full English breakfast?” while posting a photo of one of his own recent attempts to be a “Digger Bucket Café”. This was greeted by a flurry of responses from keen readers! Check it out here. 14184471_10210200798401526_877519779625953415_n Finally this week George Moore posted a photo of one of the family businesses older ADT’s in the form of an old Moxy. This old girl has been out all summer earning her keep and was back in the yard getting a well-earned wash before heading out on hire again on Monday. Of course George's dad Chris Moore, is famous in the industry for his connection with the old Norwegian based brand and has built a great reputation for running them in the past, often being referred to as “Moores Moxy’s”. These days the overall choice of ADT on the fleet come from the Bell stable, but these old Moxy’s will always have a special place in the families heart I’m sure.
