Digger’s weekly social media round up #11

Taking our now regular look back now at some of the highlights of the Digger Man Blogs social media activity and interaction with our readers and members from the past week.

Digger’s weekly social media round up #11
This past week the Digger Man Blog has experienced an unprecedented amount of requests to join the group from all over the world. Of course for us as a member’s only group, it has never been about gaining as many followers as possible regardless of whether they are interested in plant or not, we are more interested in quality rather than quantity and we will continue to focus on that. Among the requests to join we have discovered some awesome new members from Australia and America but more on that later in this post. First up in this week’s round up is a post that surprisingly did not get a lot of reaction when first post. Ben Hampshire posed the question “What people's thoughts on a Cat 313F GC”. Have you tried one of these machines, what did you think about it, was it comfortable, did it have enough power, was it smooth on the controls? Why not let us know what you think of the machine. With Finning UK & Ireland doing a deal on these machines at the moment you could own one for just £150 per week! Join the discussion here. Earthmoving legend Lionel Whitnell and great Digger Man Blog supporter purchased two of these machines when they were first launched and you can read more about his decision do to so by clicking on this link. DSC_2170 Blog reader and one of my old work colleagues from years gone by Michael Mcguire was keen to show off the fruits of his labour on a site in Launceston in Cornwall this week. This type of holding pond are becoming increasingly popular on housing sites these days and this one was his second to complete on this job and he has one more to do, which he is well stuck into now as I type this! We love to see photos of your work so get them posted. Check out this thread here. 14089142_10153926813218811_8423530602774440684_n Our friend and the man behind the Awesome Earthmovers You Tube Channel and Facebook page, posted a series of shots of an old Massey Ferguson 350S hydraulic excavator which has been left abandoned in a field in Northern Ireland. These were once highly regarded machines and it’s sad to see them degenerating away like this. Let’s hope someone comes along and decides to save her for a restoration job. This week backhoe loader specialist Paul Killen posted a photo of his and I quote “The wee man’s bag” as he packed him off to school with an old edition of Earthmovers Magazine to browse through. It’s clearly the essential read of choice for digger fans of all ages, shapes and sizes! One of them is Martyn Matenga who burst on to the pages of the Digger Man Blog this week with a series of stunning photos and video footage featuring some of the big machines he has been operating down there, like this Liebherr R 994 which he was charged with at the BHP Mt Keith Nickel Mine in Western Australia, Martyn describes it as “The outright toughest excavator I’ve ever been on”.
