Digger’s weekly social media round up #16

Taking a look back now at some of the highlights of the Digger Man Blogs social media activity and interaction with our readers and members from the past week.

Digger’s weekly social media round up #16
Classic kit has long been a popular topic on the original stand-alone Digger Man Blog and readers on the blogs Facebook portal are keen to share their photos too. One such reader this week was Alex Richards who shared this photo of a classic Cat 941B crawler loader which prompted a bit of discussion. Join the chat here.  14720330_1746235205594141_5017249890370176618_n Talking of older kit, regular reader and contributor Lee Blower has been on holiday with his wife recently and like most of us had his eye open for a bit of "digger spotting" whilst touring around. At the South Lakes Safari Zoo in Cumbria, Lee came across this old Sumitomo SH60 midi excavator. This machine which looks like it still puts in the odd shift, was probably a grey import model as I know a lot of these were brought in back in the day when cheap machines from the Japanese market were easily accessible. The machine was receiving a bit of TLC, a subject which often gets people motivated with their comments, but thankfully on this occasion the thread remained respectful! Whatever way you look at it Graham’s machine is still looking tidy which is the way I like to see them. Check out the thread here. 14656364_324191677941361_7286189696718892664_n More new kit posted on the blog this week included this Liebherr R 914 Compact hydraulic excavator which has been sold to Devon based Axminster Excavators by regional sales manager Stuart Ameer Ali. If all goes to plan I hope to be covering this machine in Earthmovers Magazine over the coming months. Take a look and join the discussion by clicking on this link. 14711459_1217896518272296_1641811089267014174_o Our old pal and all round muckshifting and plant hire legend Lionel Whitnell posted a great “old school” photo this week, featuring a line-up of Cat scrapers and a Cat D9G with pusher blade at rest, with the simple title of “I miss them days”. This prompted a good discussion among the seasoned muckshifting men that are members on our Facebook page about the glory days of British motorway construction. You can check it out right here. 14753826_10210581676808323_2644588666315804615_o That's all for another week here on the Digger Man Blog, enjoy the weekend and see you all back here on Monday morning. #KeeptheFaith
