Digger’s weekly social media round up #3

It’s time to take another look back at some of the highlights from the Digger Man Blog’s social media interaction with our readers and followers.

Digger’s weekly social media round up #3
Earlier this week Dale Gilbertson posed a question on the Facebook page asking where was the best place to go for a rotating selector grab for a 3 tonne mini excavator. Following a couple of "banter" style posts from members, Dale was quickly contacted by a flurry of manufacturers/suppliers of the versatile attachments which once again demonstrated the power of social media channels such as the Digger Man Blog’s Facebook group. We have not heard if Dale actually ordered one yet but hopefully he will let us know about his purchase in due course. Check out the debate here. 006 It’s been a hot old week for everyone operating a machine this past seven days, with temperatures up in the mid 30’s in some of the hottest areas. As such air-con or in some cases the lack of it, was a hot topic (forgive the pun) of conversation on the Facebook page. Aaron Jamison from Belfast saw the funny side of it, posting a photo of his dog in the cab of a Kubota mini excavator and commenting “the lack of aircon was causing serious issues for both of us today”. Take a look and join the discussion here. 13707769_10208803568378922_870000449989770521_n Case/Sumitomo excavators are a very hot topic of conversation on the Digger Man Blog Facebook page at the moment. These Japanese designed machines are really gaining a lot of friends in the industry not only from owners but especially operators. One such operator is Christoffer Meinhardt Loff from Denmark who posted photos of his Engcon tilt-rotator equipped CX210D. You can take a look at his machine and join the discussion by clicking on this link. 13701143_1312049198827455_7011146538540928741_o Also this week we got one of our first sightings of an HE Services fleet JCB Hydradig which had been delivered to Steve Taylor’s latest job near Oxford. Steve who works for Trant in a site managerial role has been extremely impressed with the machines compact dimensions and awesome lifting power. There was a lot of chat about the anticipated hire rate and the machine set up without a tilt-rotator. Join the debate here. 13813668_1197605766956401_6521011631534210426_n I spent the best part of this week over on the South East side of the country doing some photography work and gaining information for a forthcoming article for Earthmovers. While there I had the pleasure of meeting not one but two legends of the plant game in Essex and Suffolk respectively, when I caught up with Lionel Whitnell and Guy Nicholls. I have massive respect for these two fellas who are testament to what can be achieved through hard work and determination, but apart from anything else, just really nice blokes who enjoy a bit of craic! Check out the thread here. 13719466_1740416462881855_2211557293603806946_o Finally this week, during my “East Side” tour, I was taken to one of Lionel Whitnell’s jobs in Felixstowe on Wednesday evening to check out the progress on their latest reservoir jobs which I will be featuring in a blog post next week. Whilst there I got to see Alex Playe who has burst onto the plant and machinery social media scene in recent months in a pretty big way! Alex was operating a Komatsu PC340LC-7 on this site for Lionel but is apparently waiting for delivery of a brand new rubber duck which I will be hoping to visit in the future. See the thread here. DSC_2257 Have a great weekend and we will see you back on the blog next week, by which time I hope to have some news of a massive competition prize!
