Digger’s weekly social media round up #4

Taking a look back at the week’s social media interaction highlight’s on the Digger Man Blog with our loyal band of readers and followers.

Digger’s weekly social media round up #4
Earlier this week Peter Neil Bayley posed the question, what's the difference between the Engcon Steelwrist and the Rototilt version of tilt-rotators. This can often lead to a heated debate as many “tilty” end users are fiercely competitive about their chosen brand and more often than not personalities come into that decision too. If you have had experience with any of these brands then why not join the discussion here. 1_Nick at Steelwrist UK pre-launch Tich Muir from Lesmahagow posted on the Facebook page asking people for their thoughts on Hitachi’s 21 tonne class excavator. Of course Hitachi have always been highly regarded by many with a lot of us harking back to the days of the superb (for their time) UH series as a benchmark for hydraulic excavators in terms of combined hydraulic smoothness and power. But it appears while still very highly regarded, some people have different views these days, why not have your say by joining the discussion here. DSC_1920 A post which raised a fair bit of interest was Ben Greeham’s piece about the constant bogging down of red tape that we all face on sites these days. It really is becoming a nightmare to get anything done on sites these days with office bods, so often straight out of university with no practical or man management skills who want everything done yesterday, but continue to hinder progress with back covering schemes like method statements and permits to dig. Have a rant and get it off your chest by joining the debate, you will feel better for it! 7d3d11c9a2c36e853ad16f710f81207b Grant Young shared a photo from Komatsu Europe’s page which shows the upper structure of a Komatsu PC600 excavator being lifted up a mountain in the Swiss Alps using a specially modified cable car. I have seen these types of photo before and have often wondered if they are for real or maybe they are just a very good photoshop job, what do you think?   13686717_1236690293021429_1783658384042099896_n Last but not least in this week’s social media round up, something to ponder on over the weekend. Now I know many of us have done crazy things on site, but have you ever seen anything as crazy as what is going on in the photo which I came across over on LinkedIn. Not the brightest place to be putting yourself in an un-shored trench with the weight of a 13 tonne excavator above you! Check out the post and have your say here. Dodgy dig I would also like to apologise for the rather excessive amount of blatant advertising that has been posted this week, we have had a few complaints about it and promise to monitor things a bit closer next week. Apart from that, keep the faith, have a great weekend and we will see you back on the Digger Man Blog next week.
