Engcon man Ollie on a roll with new compactor attachment

Long term UK Engcon user Ollie Kitchen has added yet another attachment to his arsenal of tools and has sent us photos of the new addition.

Owner/Operator Ollie Kitchen is a firm believer in the Swedish approach to excavation, armed with his Engcon equipped and highly specified Komatsu PW160 wheeled excavator. He is currently working on the M1 between junctions 28 to 35A in the East Midlands, where he is also working alongside 2 additional “rubber duck” owner operators Rob Taylor and Lister Gericke who collectively have become known as “The Dream Team”. Ollie is not one to rest on his laurels though and has recently added a compactor roller attachment to fit under his Engcon EC219 tiltrotator, which has been put together by the guys at Anross Ltd. Ollie has been another trailblazer for the tiltrotator concept in the UK in recent years and having visited Sweden to see how they work on a number of occasions, has adopted the style back in his homeland. In addition to his boom mounted attachments which includes a grab and pallet forks, Ollie also has a trailer which is towed behind his machine, a set-up which is very popular with our Scandinavian cousins. It’s often said that a tiltrotator is even more appreciated by the guys on the ground, as it inevitably makes their life a lot easier too, which at the end of the day, can only be a good thing in terms of less manual handling and improved safety. One keen supporter of the concept is legendary kerb layer Johnny Edwards seen here worshipping the Engcon! With Ollie potentially heading back to Sweden  later this year to attend the MaskinExpo show, one has to wonder what he will be inspired to add to his amazing set up next. I for one look forward to finding out.
